HISTORICAL HORSE FARM

Royal Horseshoe Farm has a 280 year history, including the oldest house in Warren County, visits by George Washington (the first in 1748,at age 16 while surveying for Lord Fairfax),ownership by John Marshall (Chief Justice ofthe U.S. Supreme Court 1801-1835) and actionduring the Civil War. You can ride past acannon emplacement that guarded Morgan’sFord on the Shenandoah River.

In the early 1900’s, the farm provided horses to the Front Royal Remount Center (U.S. Cavalry). Our historic barns have been carefully renovated, preserving much of the old character and construction.

Thanks so much for a lovely trail ride & supporting my horse “habit”…letting me use your facility for a get away for a couple of days!

Your kindness will always be remembered!

A have been a faithful customer of Royal Horseshoe Farm since September of 2007. I have taken riding lessons from Tina Anderson and have found her to be very knowledgeable, patient, and and a true horse lover. She has a vast knowledge of horses from her lifelong experience of working with these animals. It is because of her quiet nature and gentle personality that I have decided to board my horse at Royal Horseshoe and have her as my trainer for my 2 year old filly.

I would recommend this facility- it is child and adult friendly, the horses are well schooled, and the trail rides are through some of the most beautiful country in Virginia.

Took my girls (they are 10) on the 1 1/2 hour trail ride. We loved it so much that we went back the next day and did it again and took more family with us. The youngest was 6 and he even got to ride by himself. The horses are very tame and loveable. The prices are reasonable and the scenery is gorgeous. Rita was our guide both times and she was amazing. Very sweet and knowledgeable. The girls loved her.

Will definitely be going back again during next year’s vacation.

Great place to take your family to go horseback riding. They are super friendly and the prices are very reasonable!

Amazing place with so many different things to do and extremely inexpensive!! I had a birthday party for my son and daughter and it was fun for all age groups!

Will definitely go back!

Great trail ride through fields, in and out of the woods and by a bubbling brook. The farm is beautifully situated and the horses are well-cared for. We were a very large group and were highly impressed with the organization of our ride. The trail guides were probably the nicest/well-informed trail guides I’ve ever been on a trail with.

Highly recommended!

Great experience for all, We took our 13 year old granddaughter and her friend. Trail ride was great, terrain varies and is through a beautiful wooded hillside, meadows and stream crossings. no boredom on this ride. Carrie was a great trail ride leader and the farm is located in beautiful rural setting that makes the experience fun from arrival to departure.

I have done trail rides in several other places nearby and this is the best total experience by far.

I’ve taken my 10 year old niece here twice this year for trail rides and, for her birthday, I’m getting her riding lessons. This is a fantastic farm and a great place to bring beginner riders….especially kids. The staff is phenomenal……incredibly friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I’ve been riding off and on for years but my niece was a first timer. They answered all of her questions and let her walk around getting to know the horses.

She has really taken to riding and I don’t think that would have happened without the wonderful staff at Royal Horseshoe.

My wife, daughter, and I thoroughly enjoyed our hour and half ride across a shallow creek, up and down the hilly shaded forest path, and through a hilltop meadow.  Our horses usually let us steer and control their speed, and when they didn’t I think it’s because they were way smarter than us and knew what to do.

As wonderful as our horses were, the absolute best part of RHF were the people – great customer service setting up the appointment, very helpful and nice getting us ready, and our guide was so patient with us and our daughter on the trail.  I got the sense this was not just a business – they really enjoy seeing people connect with their horses and nature.  There are closer trail riding options, and there are less expensive options, but we will go back here next time.

I certify I was not asked or given any incentive to submit this review.

Absolutely AMAZING ride!!!
We are experienced riders and have been on many trail rides, but this ride by FAR was exceptional!
We took a 2 hours guided ride (the longest they offer) and the scenary was amazing! Our guide (don’t quite remember his name, younger gentleman with glasses) was exceptionally knowledgeable and a joy to have as a guide!
If you are planning a horseback riding adventure, and want a VERY scenic tour through the mountains and woods (and we saw MULTIPLE deer on our ride) this is definitely the place to do it!!

VERY professional and a VERY beautiful ride!!
